Esomeprazole is S- optical isomer of omeprazole, is the first global isomers of proton pump inhibitor (PPI), through specific inhibition of gastric parietal cell proton pump to reduce gastric acid secretion. By a large number of clinical experiments and drug research confirmed: the maintenance of pH>4 in stomach for longer, acid suppression efficiency is higher, the efficacy is better than the former two generation PPI, the individual difference is small. As a new generation of PPI, has been widely used in clinical treatment of many acid related diseases.
